Breezy Bernardino

This one was tougher than I anticipated. Had done it twice before, but I’m still lagging in terms of physical shape after my foot injury. The struggle aside, it was a beautiful day, warm but with a refreshing breeze. Saw so many flowers blooming, especially penstemons. Saw only six other hikers during the entire nine-hour hike, all on the ascent. Saw no one on the descent—absolutely not a soul—from the summit all the way to my car. That was four hours of hiking in peace and solitude. Lovely.
