Bugfest

Oak Grove trailhead has, as the name suggests, a gorgeous grove of California Live Oak trees, I always like to sit and draw there. The first two/three miles are on a pleasant (but steep) trail, topping out at a fire road. That has nice views, but is less fun to hike on. This is a long hike, though not particularly challenging. On the way up I made my way through the clouds, which is always poetic. On the way down the clouds had burned off and that lower trail section was riddled with all kinds of bugs. Felt like I was chased of the mountain. Barely had time to appreciate the flowering cacti. Time to spray my clothes and take that head net.
