California Surprise at the Summit

I enjoyed hiking the peak with my family: Kurt, two daughters and my eldest daughter’s husband on Easter Sunday.  It was great to complete the challenge surrounded by family.  We enjoyed Easter egg salad sandwiches right before reaching the trailhead.  We chose to go up via the 5 Oaks Trail and back down the road.  We were treated to spectacular view and wildflowers along the way.  It was fun to hear and see the acorn woodpecker in various spots.  The best part of the hike was reaching the summit and seeing the field California poppies around the bend by the bench.
