Challenging hike up High Point Mountain

This is my third year attempting to complete the peaks and with this hike, I have successfully completed 6 in 2024 at age 61! I’ll be honest though. I didn’t think I would make it yesterday. Those first two miles up High Point were difficult for me as it was warm with no breeze. Once we got to the fire road though, it seemed to get easier, breezier, and cooler so was able to make it up to the fire lookout tower. Those last two miles coming down though – brutal. My husband had a mini heat stroke and had to lie down. Take lots of water folks!
