So, followed all the advice we could find online and didn’t go up the Fire Lookout road. Instead we took the scenic longer route up the Azalea Glen trail to where it joined the Azalea Springs fire road. We then went down that a ways to join up to the Conejos trail which took us almost to the top of the peak where we joined the paved Fire Look out road to the top. We were up there quite early so there were only a couple people there. Once we headed down we took the now paved Fire Lookout road down back to the Paso Picacho campground where we stayed the night before. We were done by noon! A bit of a let down though that the road is paved and was open. More people on the road coming up as we were coming down.

The view at the top is amazing with a view of all of San Diego County in all directions. It was a clear day with a cool breeze which meant it was a bit fresh without a jacket or warm layer on.

This completed my six pack of peaks for 2020. A bit of a strange but good year for hiking.
