Double Summit – Part 2!

We were feeling good after the Wasson Peak summit that morning and still had the whole day ahead of us, so we decided to go for two!  Parking was a little tricky.  Apparently, we weren’t the only ones with the great idea to hike on a beautiful Sunday in March.  We had to wait about 10-15 minutes to get into the park and find a parking spot, but it wasn’t a big deal.

This is definitely the Indiana Jones adventure of the six.  The crazy scaffolding (coupled with wind) required a lot of trust but the miles of yellow flowers you could see from the top made it all worth it.  The trail requires a little more climbing effort – not unlike Piestewa – a neverending stairway on the north side.  The ladders and bridges are all on the south side after you cross the saddle which reminded me more of Camelback.  My knee was giving me trouble by the descent, but I think that had more to do with my bad knees and having hiked another mountain earlier in the day than it did with the trail being particularly strenuous.  It was definitely a fun one and I can see why it’s so high on every Arizonans “to hike” list!
