Two friends and I hiked up Volcan Mountain Trail from 8:30-11am. First 3/4 has plenty of shade and limited views. Absolutely stunning views when you arrive at the opening. Beaches and a memorial are a nice spot to relax near the peak. We decided to take Five Oaks Trail down, it’s a single file path with views to the southwest. Bugs were annoying but not awful. Bees were on every flower, save for the Devils Tumpets.
