‘Easily Taken for Granite”
Also on this hike
Drove up from the valley the night before. Wife dropped me off at the trailhead at 8am. First mike or so was relatively level and shaded. After that the climb began with switchbacks going up the scenic boulder fields for which this mountain is named. There is a closed area of cliffs for Peregrine Falcon nesting but didn’t affect the hike. The is a saddle area near the top which was shaded but filled with mosquitoes. Trail continues up towards the summit? But doesn’t go all the way to the top. I went as far as I could and there were some scenic vistas. Most of the hike is without cover so probably best done during a cooler time of the year or very early.
