El Cajon
Also on this hike
I decided to tackle El Cajon closer to the beginning of my time in San Diego, and in hindsight I am very happy with that decision. I had read on this page that this was the toughest hike in San Diego, so I wanted to get through it early while I was at the beginning of a taxing few days. The weather was hot and sunny again and I brought about a half gallon of water-I used almost every drop. I met two young SDSU boys at the trailhead, we became quick acquaintances and hiked together which was nice to have company and learn more about the area and their backgrounds with some of the other hikes. We made it to the top in just under 2 hours and spent a solid half hour getting pictures, refueling, and resting. I decided to leave them at the top and continue to the bottom myself, I knew I was going to try and run as many segments as possible. Total moving time was about 4.5 hours.
