El Cajon: What a Toughie!

Another double peak weekend! Boy, what a treat to hike El Cajon on day one! (Insert sarcastic emoji here)

Never under-estimate the San Diego peaks, as one friend had cautioned us. The inclines were nothing to scoff at. The manzanitas were fierce and prickly. The rocks were sharp and pointed. The sun was unforgiving. I mean, what would you expect?

It was a well-traveled trail that day with plenty of hikers going both ways. Not a dull moment, letting people pass and passing people (okay, more of the former), exchanging pleasantries and trading trail intel.

Suffice it to to say, I slept well that night.
