Wildflowers blooming

If you’ve done any research into El Cajon Mountain Summit, you may have heard that it’s “uphill both ways”. Well, that’s absolutely true, thanks to the many ups and downs on this trail! The trail was pretty washed out due to a lot of recent rain. But it made for a lot of deep greens to contrast the beautiful blooming wildflowers. Several times I crested a ridge thinking that I had finally reached the summit and several times I was dead wrong. Once we finally made it though, it was well worth the climb. The view was beautiful. We ate lunch up there and got a visit from a friendly helicopter zooming by pretty close. The hike back down was almost just as difficult as the hike up, but I kept dreaming of burritos and cold beer and I got through just fine!
