First of six

Very scenic! A variety of rocks strewn everywhere, gnarled trees, a few very tough mountain bikers, interesting people out for a great day, even an infant hitching a ride all the way to the top. None of the folks I chatted up had heard of the 6 pack challenge, which was surprising. A volunteer ranger I met clued me in that the trail at the top wound around a good bit and it was easy to miss the summit sign. The wind did pick up for a few minutes at the top, there were a few drops of rain, and one hiker saw lightning- but the sun kept shining. One the way down I saw a group of 8 deer. Did not think to check  for caches along the way- I should have!
