Trail wet in places and had to watch my step on wet and sometimes moss-covered rocks. The summit was socked in with fog/clouds – maybe a byproduct of the wildfires out west? It was my first time on a summit in such conditions. Although there were no views, visibility was down to 20 feet at times, it was an interesting vibe and I enjoyed the sharing the experience with other hikers on the summit that day – it was fairly crowded in spite of the poor visibility. After coming out of the trees and before making the summit, I had to stop at a cairn at hang out for about 15 minutes since I lost track of the trail markers due to poor visibility. When the fog dissipated a bit, I found the trail markers and made it to the summit and back down. The hike was about 1675 of vertical gain and 4.5 miles. I had wanted to try Pumpelly, but it is my understanding it is somewhat more above tree line than Dublin. I thought the going would be slower on Pumpelly given the thick fog.
