Miles: 7.7 miles

It was a beautiful morning as it was clear and cool. My kind of conditions. I was up early and headed to Eagles Cut Trail from Camp. From Eagles Cut Trail I connected with Sunset Ridge Trail up to summit. It was really a quiet day on the trails and was looking forward to my return to the “Chin” Summit. Made a couple side trips to the “Cantilever Rock”that sticks out overhead in an open area that also had some nice views and climbed through some rock formation tunnels. Had some views through trees along my way up to tree-line. Above tree-line i connected with the Long Trail – North then reached the summit. Welcomed by 360 views and could mountains way off in the distance on both sides of the US and Canada. There was a layer of grey from the wildfires. I didn’t stay up long and to head back on the Long Trail – South where I made the decision not to go down Sunset Ridge Trail this time but to make a more challenging hike. I continued on the Long Trail – South across the ridge towards the “Forehead” and connect to Maple Ridge Trail for multiple fun but steep descents to C.C. Road which connects back to Sunset Ridge Trailhead. Couldn’t have asked for better weather! There were a number of hikers on the trails during the latter part of the hike. There were some runoff streams with good water source if needed. Didn’t see much wildlife on the way up. It had been four years since my last visit making it my third time summiting. Defintitely a hard and challenging hike but was worth it.
