This hike was much more difficult that I expected. Mind you, I’m coming off a broken foot from a few months ago and am trying to get back in shape. I tried this hike in February, but bailed due to excessive heat and lack of water. Today, I came prepared and parked in the Sierra Madre community to begin the hike. The start of the trail is basically in a neighborhood, but many seem to hike here often and are very friendly. Someone even warned me that I better turn my wheels after I park or else they’d give me a ticket! I started the hike a bit late at 1pm and was hoping to finish the hike by 7pm.  The hike itself was longer than I expected. Many parts go directly uphill and it’s not all too flat. 4 miles in I was quite winded. I did a small detour unintentionally and walked up the road for cars. This was probably an extra mile, but at least it was a bit flatter than the actual trail. At the very top, there’s a cafe and the observatory. Unfortunately, today was cloudy at the very top and couldn’t see anything at all besides clouds. Thankfully though, the cooler weather allowed me to move faster and not get tired too fast, like last time. I finished the hike in 6.5 hours.
