Greys and Torreys Double Feature
Also on this hike
We started early in the morning because the weather guessers suggested rain was in the forecast for the afternoon. We got lightly rained on as we rounded the corner to what we affectionately referred to as Snack Break Point and had a look back at the trail we had come in on and a beautiful view of the valley. Once we started the ascent up the Stairs and took the long route up to Grays the rain relented but the wind made it super cold. I put on every layer I brought and still felt the urge to hike faster for warmth. Several faster hikers turned around before reaching the summit because the wind and sleet were too much.
Thankfully we made it to Grays Peak just in time for the cloud cap to clear and we got a few gorgeous glimpses of the lakes below us. We snapped some photos, had some snacks, and went on our merry way down to the saddle to begin our climb to Torreys.
