Perfect day for a hike! The weather could not have been better with a high of 77 degrees. My 29 year old son who is doing the challenge also was my hiking buddy. The trail is well marked and in great condition. When you hike Bear Mt. you are either hitting the gas or the brakes with almost a 1000 foot elevation change per mile. Full exposure to the sun with very little shade so start early or wait until fall. We were surprised that we logged almost 4 hours of moving time. I hiked with poles and being 5’2″ they were of great benefit in the steps up and down. Almost every step is a deliberate step so don’t space out.  It is a difficult hike as it ask a whole lot from the hiker but it delivers on beauty. The rock formations are interesting and the vistas are gorgeous. We saw a few Western Tanager’s as we exited the hike.
