Helen Lake

We started out on the Bunny Flat Trailhead.  Lots of parking and facilities there.  Supposed to be a 6.5 mile route but we meandered here and there and ended up doing 8.16 miles.  Once you hit the steep rocky area, it’s hard to see where the trail is going up but we just chugged on.  It was definitely a slog – the views were beautiful and worth it but this was a hard hike.  Thankfully, the weather was pretty mild – you are exposed for a big chunk of this hike.  Little patches of snow up by Helen Lake and the “lake” itself was still covered in snow.
