I was excited to start the Six Pack of Peaks challenge again. We started with Mt. Umunhum again since it’s the shortest and easiest of the peaks. Had an easy drive to trailhead and met up at 8:30 AM with parking still available at the Bald Mountain parking area. The Mt. Umunhum Trail is a moderate 4 mile out and back from the lot to the peak. Despite the early April hike, there was snow on the ground from a rare cold event a few days before. However, it was a fine morning for a hike, and there were no bugs like last time when I did this on a hot June day. That said, there weren’t wildflowers blooming yet. All in all, a fast 3 hour hike with moderate climbing and a relaxing downhill.
