High Point Palomar Mountain

So many beautiful mountain views! First, if you are using AllTrails, the actual trailhead is one the next turn. You can google Oak Grove Trailhead, and it will send you right on to the actual trailhead. Additionally, there is reception pretty much everywhere BUT in the parking lot – I personally found this ironic.

The trip started off fine. I do recommend being a little more conditioned for this hike. As my friend called it, it is a “hike” hike. She ended up waiting for me at the gate on the trail cause she couldn’t handle the inclines.

The reviews are no joke though. The last quarter mile or so is absolutely brutal.

Overall, it was an amazing hike. It was actually around 14 miles, not 13 as advertised. As always, always bring enough water and snacks and wear sturdy, comfortable shoes! I personally did not need my stocks until the descent – and only during the last two miles.
