Hiked with a partner

The first 2 miles of this hike are all uphill.  My quads are going to remember this hike for a few days.  The weather was beautiful, temps in the high 60’s.  The sun was shining and there were no clouds.  There was still areas with snow on the ground.  I would suggest hiking poles for added stability across some of the steeper snow covered areas.

The hike itself is all on a fire road and easy to follow.  Once you reach the lookout, veer to the right and follow the pink ribbons to the summit.  It is very overgrown and I would suggest not attempting it in shorts.

We only saw 2 people on the trail at the very end of our day.  Other than them, we hiked in solitude the entire day.

It is $10 per person to enter.  I feel bad as I overlooked the “per person” price and thought it was $10 for entry.  Thankfully the security guard was kind and let us in for $10 (as that was all the cash I had on me having only brought what I thought I needed).

Bring plenty of water and snacks, as it is a distance to any resupply.  There were porta-potties in the campground but no toilet paper or trashcans.
