Humping up Humphreys
Also on this hike
Took a run at Humphrey’s in October and due to ice & no crampons turned back at the saddle. Figured it was late enough in the season I would try again. Started about 7am. Minor snow but nothing too bad, no solid ice in the AM. Humphreys offers grand views once you gain some elevation and get a look around. About 2 miles in my wife slipped and while she was able to summit, I ended up carrying her pack for her. Got a little buzzy headache at the saddle, and the temperature drop from the wind chill was noticeable. The climb from there was exposed and I wished I’d brought a mild windbreaker. Gorgeous at the summit and was a great day all around.
