Hiked with a dog

Started before 5am Sunday morning to beat expected thunderstorms. Had full moon to light the way. Saw big bright eyes glowing in the darkness – turned on my headlamp and was relieved to see just deer. Tower was open and occupied – said he was just there for the weekend. Could see smoke from the Whiskey Fire, but didn’t impact the hike.
