Knee Breaker (Mailbox Peak)
Also on this hike
I reached around a 7AM to the parking lot and it was almost full. Started the hike via new trail route, the initial 3 miles were not that steep (as you may see some flats here and there to relax your calf muscles) and with full energy it will be fine to climb. The 4th mile is a bit strenuous as the inclination starts to get serious and the last mile will test you mentally. Especially from the scramble part it was really tough to climb. I reached the summit and clocked just under 3 hours from the base. Stayed there for about 30-40 mins (had my snack and enjoyed the view of rainier). It was not that windy and hence I could spend more time on top relaxing and getting my knee prepared for downhill. I was able to clock the entire downhill in a little over 2 hours and overall I finished the entire hike in about 6 hours (including the break at top).
