Leap day

Great hike. The first section is a beautiful (but somewhat steep) trail, and the rest is fire road; less steep but a relentless long incline. The views from the top are amazing as there is little to block the view, and it was probably 25 degrees cooler at the top. I took a smaller trail down for the first mile or so until it reconnected with the road, which was pretty. Lots of enormous manzanitas along the trail and I totally loved the oak grove at the trail head; old growth, dramatic and very photogenic. Or pencil-genic, in my case.
