Snow Trail snow-covered at times - Gear and expertise recommended

This was my second time to hike Mt. Greylock and although it didn’t go as expected, it was a good day.  It was my first major hike in over two years, and it helped me realize that I am still up to the task.  My friends and I got off course so that we turned a 7-mile hike into a 13-mile hike but we made it and that’s all that matters. The off-course part of the trail was very muddy, like sink to your ankles kind of muddy but the actual trail was a little beat up.  We also went on a section of the trail that you had to post-hole in the snow, but we were able to avoid that section on the way down by walking on the road.  Overall, it was a great day!
