Lost Dutchman State Park-Flatiron

Not gonna lie-this climb was brutal! It was probably 1/2 mile from the parking lot through the campground to the trail and from that pint on it was up, up, up. No switchbacks, just a steady incline up and then you hit a wall of rock-no cables. This is where I found it best to crabwalk my way up. And if you thought up was hard-down was probably harder. The steady incline paired with loose gravel, made it easy to slip. I spent most of the decent on my butt. Lots of wildflowers and the view was beautiful. Couldn’t ask for the weather the be any more perfect! What a great start to my Birthday Celebration!
