Beautiful hike overall with great views and lively mountain weather. Trail is currently passable with only minor snow remaining near the peak and nothing significantly obscuring the route. Expect some scrambling over numerous downed logs along the trail….similar conditions to last year.

There are also quite a few dead and standing trees throughout the area, including at least one large leaning snag over the trail. Be aware of your surroundings, especially during windy conditions, as standing dead timber can fall without warning. Recent regional trail conditions throughout the Lassen area have also noted deadfall and hazard trees associated with past fire impacts.

The trail itself remains easy to follow despite the debris. Snow near the summit is patchy and manageable. Overall, still a beautiful and worthwhile hike in the Thousand Lakes Wilderness.
