I’ve lived in SoCal all my life, and can’t believe I’ve never been up to Baldy. Decided to take Baldy Bowl up and Devils Backbone down so I could stop at Top of the Notch for a nice cold beer at the end. And by end, I mean with only 3.5 miles of fire road left. A little boring, but a welcome reprieve for my knees. It was pretty windy on the summit. The forecast was 20-25mph winds but I would say it was closer to 30mph, especially coming down devils backbone. No snow on the trail, just a small patch on the north face going over to Baldy West. Started at 6:30 and ended up at the summit just before 10. Shared the peak with about 15-20 people. Very clear, out to the east you could see the 15 going up the cajon pass, and all the other surrounding peaks. Beautiful hike… On to the next peak!
