Mount San Jacinto via Marion Mountain 2025 – Solo Hike

June 3, 2024

As has become tradition, I came up a day early to hike up to Suicide Rock (~7.6 miles / 1860 elevation gain). It’s a great acclimation hike offering panoramic views of Idyllwild & Taquitz peak at the top.

Spent the night at Marion Mountain campground to get an early start at dawn. Great hiking conditions. Mild temperatures and overcast skies. There were a few patches of snow left at Little Round Valley. I didn’t stay at the summit very long as clouds were started to roll in and there was a small risk of storm in the forecast. The bugs were fine too until the last couple miles down when they came out in full force. Skeeters won that one.

This remains one of my favorite hikes in the region. More details and maps are available in previous logs.
