Mt. Bachelor – A Late Season Hike
Also on this hike
This was the latest in the season that I have ever gone up Mt. Bachelor. The lower part of the mountain was sunny with pleasant temperatures, but as I got closer to the top, the temperature dropped, and I could see ice on the branches of some of the small conifers along the way. As I climbed higher, the wind picked up and I watched fog blow in like a scene from “The Fog.” By the time I got to the top, the wind was whipping and it was really cold! This was the shortest amount of time I have ever spent on the top of a mountain. I should have taken out my heavy coat long before I got to the top but I didn’t want to take the time to stop. I regretted this decision! I took a few quick pictures and descended as fast as I could.
