We packed up bright and early at 5am and headed out on a 2 hour drive up to Mt. Saint Helena. We call ourselves the 6Pack even though it’s just 4 of us but we’re taking on 6 peaks. Makes sense? Me either. It was great getting to the trailhead so early. The weather was perfect…at first. The first part of the trail requires close attention as there are rocks, tree stumps, zigzagging and some minor bouldering as the trail we took was slightly washed out. Then we hit the fire road and it was well maintained from there on. At the peak, it’s a beautiful panoramic view (with the exception of what seemed to be cell towers). We all four met up there as well as some other hikers. After an hour of hanging out on top, snacking, taking pictures and chatting, we ventured back down the mountain. Unfortunately, due to our leisure time at the peak, the day became hotter. Hiking down was most difficult because there is minimal shade and it was very hot. Luckily, we parked in a shady spot and when we reached the bottom we relished being in a cool vehicle! All in all, this was another great hike!
