With just two more hikes to go to complete the six-pack Peaks, and having completed the mammoth Rose Peak, thought the last two – Mt. Sizer and Mt. Helena would be a walk in the park. Was I wrong!

The trail for a large part is covered with rubble and the day we chose to do our hike turned out to be rather warm…not the best conditions for an awesome experience. There was still plenty of water in the streams and the stream crossings were actually a lot of fun. We ensure we washed our faces with the clear cool waters to rejuvenate ourselves at every chance we got. The steep uphill gradient with the rubbles definitely was challenging. I always find uphill easier than downhill. My knees felt the gradient forcing me to slow down on the descent.

Pockets of wild flowers were gorgeous and apart from the descent, it was good solid hike. It is rather open with not much shade and so choosing a day that is cooler would help immensely.
