So glad that there was a break in the rain today so I could conquer my last peak of the challenge, Mt Tamalpais!

I started at the Dipsea tailhead off of  Panoramic Hwy.  After about a mile, I took the Steep Ravine Trail.  Within about a 1/4 of mile in,  you could hear rushing waters. So beautiful!! So many waterfalls! Steep Ravine is like an adventure. There’s even a ladder by a waterfall that you must climb to continue on the trail.

After about 3 miles on Steep Ravine, I entered Pantoll Campgrounds. From there I took Old Stage Rd (fire road) to the West Point Inn. From there I followed a dirt road which lead me to the Plank Walk Trail and up to the summit of  Mt Tam!!  The climb up the summit is similar to the rocky summit climb at Mission Peak.  The view at the summit was breathtaking. You can see the San Raphael Bridge, the Bay Bridge, Oakland, The City, etc….  I loved this hike and glad I saved the best for last!!

  1. Hi Kevin,
Today we saw you on the hike and waved hi. We also took Old Stage (most direct) to West Point because we were worried of running out of daylight (we got a late start). We also saved this hike for last – getting it done just before the end of the year – kept postponing due to rain. Haven’t posted my last 4 summits – so I’ve got homework to d before the end of the year. Cheers.

    1. Hi Diane and Happy Holidays!
Yes, I almost missed this hike but so glad it stopped raining for the day! Next year I’m going to start early. I see longer hikes for 2022. Glad you all finished as well. What a way to finish off 2021!
      Cheers!!
