My Daughter’sBday gift – climbing Mt. Monadnock with his old man.

I finally started the challenge with the encouragement from my 14-year old daughter – we are climbing my first mountain, Mt. Monadnock.  We arrived at the park at 7:00AM,  the park ranger said it is going to be really busy today.  The weather was perfect, it was sunny cool morning with clear sky.  We took the most popular and most direct trail to the top, the White Dot trail.  The time we started was not yet busy but there were already a few people who were on their way back.  It took us two-and -a-half hours to reach the top, there were about 30 people at the summit.   It was cool at the summit and has very clear view of the surroundings.  After spending 30 minutes enjoying the view, we decided to start our hike down using White Cross trail. It was less steep and avoided the foot traffic of people climbing up.  We have completed our hike at about 12:30PM, the parking lot was full by that time. Today’s hike was very pleasant -I feel some regret that I did not start the challenge in early spring. Still,  i’m looking forward to my next hike, and aiming to complete all six hikes.
