New Year Afternoon in Volcan

Second peak for the New Year. This has been a thing for us, to complete both Cuyamaca and Volcan same day for logistics reason.  Typically, we started with Volcan then brunch at Julian then Cuyamaca, not this time. Julian seemed to be at their busiest at this day. We went the back way instead of through the town, extreme traffic, to Farmer Rd.

Volcan today felt like way steeper than usual???? I supposed lack of sleep, long drive and complete almost 8miles earlier. Legs wanted to sleep in instead of hiking and good thing I was more motivated to hike to train, sort of, for our Patagonia trek in a few weeks. We pushed on and completed in decent time. Lot of hikers.
