New Year’s Day challenge

This trail proved difficult as always. The first 2 miles are a steep grade with uneven ground and rocks. This part is hardest on the way down as far as footing goes. Poles for sure.
the snow started right around the first gate on the fire road if I remember correctly. Micro spikes were used.

we summited right around 4:15-4:30am with a midnight step off. the coyotes were interested in us. They kept their distance but we could hear them getting closer as we made out way up to the first up hill from the parking lot.

the summit was very cold and windy. It was 20 with windchill. Very quick summit picture then down we went
