You definitely need an off-road vehicle to get up to the trail head. You do need to step to the side of the road there are various off-road motorcycles and cars going up and down but everyone was very courteous and drove by slowly. The weather turned out to be a warm day with lots of sun and the views hiking up and down were just spectacular
