Mt Baldy was the original intent – the weather forecast strongly suggested Baldy would not be a good choice as “possible white out conditions” were a bit extreme for our fun-loving group.

So, for our 10th peak to bag (6 Norcal done, this our 4th in SoCal) , we went with the safe alternative of Ontario.

Having just finished Cugamonga the day prior, we were all afraid it might be a bit too repetitive, but luckily diverting early at Chapman trail intersection kept the hiking feeling new.

The weather … wow!  It made the hike.  It was cold, windy, rainy, freezing rain and finally snowing on us.

We loved it!

Now we wait until Labor Day to finish the SoCal peaks.

Baldy might have to wait until next year.
