Ontario and Bighorn Peaks
The first three miles are pretty much straight uphill through the side of the Icehouse Canyon, with lots of tree cover from the sun and a creek trickling away below you on the side of the trail. After you reach the saddle, there’s a section of flat ground for a nice break from the uphill until you make the final push to the summit. Ontario Peak has amazing views of the surrounding LA suburbs; you can see everything for miles! After that I decided to push to the nearby Bighorn Peak, which only added a mile or so to my hike. It has a different view from Ontario Peak and a fantastic view of Mount Baldy. Definitely a more challenging hike, but very rewarding!
