Ontario Peak
Peak 3 of my SoCal Six-Pack of Peaks Challenge didn’t go as planned… but it still turned out to be something really special ✨️ I was supposed to summit Cucamonga with Way Out Wild, but had to turn back to support someone who was experiencing elevation sickness. It was the right call. Her condition wasn’t improving. Part of being a guide means knowing when to step back, even if it means not reaching the summit yourself. Safety always comes first, and that day, the summit wasn’t mine to claim. But the story doesn’t end there. A few days later, one of the women from the group offered to hike Ontario Peak with me so I could still get my third peak in. That simple act of support reminded me why I do this…community, sisterhood, and showing up for each other 💜 And honestly? Ontario surprised me. It was longer than Cucamonga, but something about it just clicked. The climb felt steady, not crushing, and the views at the top were unreal. We stood there staring at Mt. Baldy, which was still closed, looking so bold and beautiful in the distance. It left us both drooling a little and dreaming of what’s next. Sometimes the best hikes are the ones that don’t go the way you expect. This was one of them.
