Picacho Peak

Today I tried out a new trail while summiting Picacho Peak: Sunset Vista Trail ???? It was a beautiful trail that started with about 2 miles of nice rolling hills. Then you climb lots of switchbacks until you get to the cables! You gain ~2000′ in a mile… It’s a brutal climb! Lots of technical movements for this summit but it was a fun challenge.

The clouds made a beautiful halo that I got to watch nearly the entire time. The mountain was so beautiful and green! And while not near as many wildflowers as last year, there were still some beautiful patches popping through that were the cherry on top to a great hike ????????

Have y’all ever climbed this beast? This was my 4th summit! I’ve gone to the saddle more times than I can count but the summit is always a fun challenge I usually do once a year!
