Picacho Peak leg burn!

Made the drive from Wasson Peak…quick snack and off I went…staring at the looming peak right above the parking lot. It doesn’t look hikable. Front side switchbacks are fun, nothing crazy. A couple wires to help you out. The the saddle at the halfway point. Good views, then a fun 300ft wire assisted decent to the back side. Sun warms you up if it’s cold. The front side was in the shadow.

then a cool and finally challenging hike! The wires were safe and I hate heights, but this was totally doable. Made the peak and headed down. Going backwards on the wires was a little scetchy, just take your time and go  backwards. Whew! Time for a beer and test before day three!
