On this day I initially planned to hike Camelback Mountain but due to logistical challenges in parking I decided to shift my plans and head up Piestewa Peak. Because the parking lot by Trail 3oo (Summit Trail) was closed due to construction work, I started my hike at the end of the road in the Apache parking lot on the Nature Trail (a.k.a. Trail 304). From Trail 304, I took Trail 302 to Trail 300 which would take me up Piestewa. I made my way up slowly. Despite the fact that this was midday, there were still a lot of people on the trail. Further up I took a short nap and snack before proceeding. On the way up, I saw a lizard. First I went up to the common summit, took a summit nap and drank water and had a few snacks. Also I had a few summit photos taken. However I wanted to get to the true summit so I descended down to the trail and then scrambled up the true summit. It felt good to take a photo of the summit marker showing I made it to the true summit. I stayed there a little longer, then I descended and retraced my steps back to my car.
