It was a beautiful, bright, sunny day. The rock stairs were unexpected and tough. They lasted longer than I thought they would. It was quite windy at the top (contact lens popped out; caught it before it blew away!). We did extra mileage down the very steep, paved road on the back side of the mountain for training purposes before turning around and heading back.
