Snow Trail snow-covered at times - Gear and expertise recommended

Early start to 2022 — parking lot was full at 4:15 by people hitting the trail for sunrise. Lower single track was crowded with plenty of hikers with headlamps. There were about 2+ dozen people on the trail in the dark and snow! It was about 35 degrees at the start and dropped a bit at the summit. Skies were clear and could see the lights from Napa, Santa Rosa, and Clearlake. Trail wasn’t too bad, with a number of frozen puddles down low with increasing snow on the trail after 2 1/2 miles. The last mile of the trail was covered with snow, though I didn’t need the trail spikes I brought. Stayed at the top for just a little bit before heading down — catching a little of the sunrise (and cold wind) as I returned to the trailhead.
