I would recommend a high clearance vehicle or you will have to drive very slowly. The hike is very steep almost the whole way up– about three miles. There is no shade, but today was overcast and very nice weather for this hike. The quartz at the top is amazing and a nice reward. The views are great as well. It took us 3.5 hours of moving time to do the roughly six miles round-trip.
