Quick Hike Up Mt. Woodson & Potato Chip Rock
Due to the weather forecast, I cancelled plans to hike in the morning and was thinking of not hiking that day. However, a new weather forecast mentioned that it there would not be heavy rains in the afternoon and given the length of the other hikes in the Challenge, Mt. Woodson was the only one that I could do in half a day in the afternoon that I could finish before the end of daylight even with a late start. So Mt. Woodson from Ramona Fire Station 86 it was. Due to the late start, I did not have to park too far from the trailhead – there were enough spaces close to the trailhead. The day was overcast which meant it would not be a hot hike. There were still a few hikers out on the trail although Potato Chip Rock did not have the usual crowds – when I got there, there was only one couple who graciously agreed to take my photo. And I had the summit to myself. After taking some pictures near Potato Chip Rock, I headed back up to the summit and down back to my car.
