Humphrey’s Peak is always a challenge and a”love/hate” adventure for me! I love the climb to the saddle and prefer to head across to Agassiz Peak before returning down the mountain or going a full loop down Weatherford and across Kachina back to the trailhead. But this trip, I needed to hit the Peak for this challenge and my two friends came up do the climb for the first time. I luckily have never experienced altitude sickness, but unfortunately my friend struggled with it all day making for a long, not so fun slog up and down this mountain. 7 hours of trying to appreciate the beauty, but just wanting to be done with the rocks and roots and constant influx of people, we finally reached the parking lot! I’m sure that I will return for a trip to the saddle…but not until next summer!
