We left Fort Collins at 5am wanting to get an early start, but because of road construction, a coffee stop and waiting for a second shuttle we did not hit the incline until 9am. It was packed and hot! It took just over an hour to reach the summit of the incline and then it began sprinkling. We quickly found the trail and enjoyed being out of the crowd. Soon after it began pouring rain and lightening was visible. We did our best to find Rocky Mountain Peak, but could not find where to go past the Fremont Forest Experiment Station. Due to the rain our map got soaked and GPS was difficult to use on the phone. I think we stayed on the main trail too long because we went a few miles past it. We became concerned about the lightening so we took a photo on a large rock and called it good 🙂  We did, however, have a great jog back down Barr Trail in the rain. Overall, the hike was amazing, beautiful and one I will do again. I will find that silly rock with the ladder…
